Me not married. But I really hope if I do get in-laws that I will love them. It would suck for my wife to be uncomfortable at family reunions.

does it count for anything if I like my sister's husband's parents more than I like my own?

My mother in law stays with us and watchs my 4 month old son at night so me and my wife can get at least 6hours of sleep and work the next day.

So yea I like my MiL. Having a newborn is not easy and she helps out a LOT!!!

My father in law can be an ass from time to time but in general he's a good guy. Don't have a mother in law.

Funny, mine don't speak English either and told us it was one of the reasons our marriage was a terrible idea.

I'd rather not comment, in case someone I know still reads this forum.

Edit: They're wonderful people.

Family is like war; it doesn't seem so bad when it is 2500 miles away.

How could you possibly leave yourself open to this one?:

If my kid married you, I'd kill myself, too.

It is not that I dislike my inlaws - I just dislike them when they visit and insist on sleeping on the couch instead of getting a hotel/motel to stay in. Arg. This ensures MovingTarget doesn't get any for quite some time. The fiancée is equally displeased, but thinks giving them the boot causes too much trouble.

Same club for both my wife and I. My FIL was cool enough.

The options are excellent as they areit is.

By saying "tolerated", you're essentially saying "they're my in-laws and I can't do anything about that"
You should either like them mostly or not....There shouldn't be any middle ground IMO.

So I got married yesterday, and I'll tell you why I love my inlaws.

When checking into our hotel for after the wedding (in the morning), the best man and I decided to leave a full pack of condoms on the night stand as a little joke for the bride. What I forgot, is that I was sending my father and mother-in-law to decorate the room for us between the ceremony and reception.

When we arrived at the room that night, there was a note on the dresser that stated "Actuarial, we brought the bride's grandparents with us, and the grandmother decided it would be funny to poke a hole in one of the condoms. It is your guess as to which one."

My father-in-law and I get along swimmingly!
