I'm in the process of building my house and am just playing around with different layout scenarios and had a tv drawn into the master bedroom diagram. My parents said it's recommended by marital experts not to have one in the master bedroom, for whatever reason...

So, do you?

Edit:

Was just googling around and found this recent study in the UK:

http://www.lse.co.uk/ShowStory.asp?story=BY1427123T&catid=5

But sleep and lifestyle expert Cliff Arnall, of the British Psychological society, said that while the bed may be a good place to relax, the survey showed we have "lost the art of sleeping". He added watching TV or working in bed can stop rapid eye movement sleep, which we need for vivid dreams.

He said: "I think it's a bad habit. In today's society you're somehow abnormal if you don't have three TVs and people use the TV to help them sleep.

"The trouble with that is that for a particular type of sleep we have when we dream called rapid eye movement (REM), it gets in the way. I suppose the other thing is that we have lost the art of sleeping.

"People are using their bedroom for things they ought to be doing outside the bedroom. People need to be re-educated really because people aren't taking sleep seriously enough."

My wife and I watch movies on my laptop in bed all the time.

I'm good looking, my wife is good looking...lack of sex or conversation has never been and issue with us.

My wife and I have one in our bedroom, but we don't have cable in the bedroom. I fall asleep easier with something on TV, so putting a TV+DVD player in the bedroom is better than sleeping on the couch. ;)

I find it's quite easy to sleep on the couch. You just have to pick the wrong words.

So does washing the dishes, doing laundry, taking out the trash and general cleaning...what's your point?

I have a TV in the bedroom. It's never on when we climb into bed though.

No. Never missed it. That's pure gold quality time.

Well, we didn't until we had our second kid and it was just too useful for keeping them occupied for changing and dressing and whatnot.

I'm single and I have had a TV in the bedroom for years. My buddy who got married several years ago does not have a TV in the bedroom b/c the wifey wouldn't allow it, but my parents do have one and they have been married for years.

When I was engaged and me and the gf were living together we had a TV in the bedroom and she couldn't fall asleep without it being on.

Shens, JLGatsby would never be able to find a woman to meet his standards let alone marry one, unless by wife he really means gay life partner.

Engaged and will be married in a month and we do have a TV in the bedroom and a DVD player, but we hardly ever use either.

Good looks is all it takes? What about when that fades? What if she meets someone better looking who is also interested in her?

Intimacy is a core of marriage and if you're neglecting it, then welcome to life as a statistic.
