I just have to say I really "misunderestimated" what a doofus this illegal squatter in the White House is.
Conservatives can just save the rhetoric as well, because I am not a liberal, as the vocal ones just love to claim. At least I have a clear conscience, I didn't elect....err, wait, he wasn't elected.
No doubt... their focus does seem to be on preserving the paternal presence in a household, no? Why shouldn't two dads be twice as good as one!
I especially enjoyed the rather provincial attitude that seems to suggest all one parent households are lead by single women. Further, that those women could be bought with small cash payouts to remain in marriages that would otherwise fail.
I feel like we're being governed by Darryl and Darryl.
What I find really amusing in the article is this:
Observers agree that only a handful of states have made any attempt to meet the goal of promoting marriages that was explicitly stated in the 1996 welfare law, or to use the flexibility Congress gave them to spend welfare funds for reducing out-of-wedlock births.
'96 was still Clinton-era ;D
And the above is not meant as a support or criticism of the Clinton or Bush administrations and/or their policies.
<< of cource marriage doesn't solve sh!t, all those single women with children and not knowing who the father is are very happy. >>
Perhaps you've watched a little too much Jerry Springer and have mistaken the actors on that show for real people with real issues in their lives. I think it's reasonable to say that most women do not need a DNA test to prove the paternity of their children.
The notion that payment of cash subsidies to women to possibly salvage a failed marriage is abhorrent, invasive, and irresponsible. It also absolves the men involved from culpability for the dissolution of marriages in which children are a party. What a disgrace.
If you were being as sarcastic as your text seems to indicate, I shudder to imagine how someone could be so clueless about the nature of life in the larger world.
