I don't understand. THis so call Marriage Penalty Tax is really a Tax Break for families where 1 parent decides to stay home to take care of the kids. Isn't this an idea that Pro-traditional-family Republicans should support? THe wording of it is also misleading. 50% of Americans benefit from it.

The last Congress passed just such a bill. It was vetoed. Congress didn't have enough votes to override the veto. Bush has said he would sign such a bill.

The bill should and will pass when re submitted. So will the estate tax bill, with modification. I predict across the board tax cut of 1/2 of what GW campaigned on,no more. The feds will lower interst rates 2 more times before the year 2001 is out.

Socialist/Democrat mind think, me thinks. Get out of that "Communist fairness" mindset and shoot for what is really fair. That is to NOT pay a higher tax simply because you've married. This would also include getting back your overpayment of taxes no matter what income "bracket" you are in. Damn! Graduated tax brackets... that has to have it's roots in Communism/Socialism somewhere too...
