i happen to have a marriage the enhances my life and continuosly affords me and my wife the possabilities of new experiences.

marriage, as with most things, is what you make it.

I don't think "noose" is the proper term... perhaps "prison sentence" is a better analogy to marriage.

I wish I was joking. :D

If it is you shouldn't have gotten married because its probably not the right person for you.

I definitely agree! You have to just roll with the punches (sometimes literally).

I don't understand why people call marriage a noose. The only people that ever say it are people who obviously married the wrong person or people who have never been married. If you marry the right person, it should be great. I know I'm looking forward to getting married because I know I'll be marrying the right person.

It's a blessed fairy tale for the woman. It's the end of life as we know if for the man.

yea, you're one of the people that really has nothing to lose in the situation. The courts give you the house, the car, and 1/2 his pay + retirement money. Sure, marriage is great! Even if it goes downhill. A sound financial investment.

This is a case of self fulfilling destiny.

If you have the attitude of it being a noose, then it will. You practically guarantee it.

On the other hand if you are wise in the choice of mate, and have a positive attitude, marriage can be a wonderful thing.

If you feel like its a noose or a prison sentence then you married the wrong person. Marriage takes work. But its definitely not a noose or a prison sentence.

With that kind of thinking, you are bound to have a miserable marriage. If you want a happy marriage, you certainly shouldn't be worried about 'what if we get a divorce?' I can't say I'm sitting here worrying about getting a divorce and even if I did I wouldn't take everything away from him that he earned. You know it's the 21st century; women do work and have their own things.

Somewhere around 1 million people file for divorce each year. I may be going out on a limb here but I'd imagine a few of them knew they were "marrying the right person" also. So much for that.

Btw, you've dismissed the opinions of people who have never been married when their opinions are negative. Therefore, how is your opinion that it's positive any more relevant considering you have never been married either?

So what if women work and do their own thing? The courts still find in favor of them the majority of the time. You have yet to marry, so your opinion is just as valid as mine.
