I don't really have any ideological opposition to polygamy, but I don't see the discrimination at work in polygamy bans that existed with the bans on same-sex marriage. There is no class of citizens enjoying some right that some other class is being denied in this case. If the government can impose speed limits on everybody without being discriminatory, it can certainly legislate number-of-spouse limits.

The argument for allowing gay marriage was based in part on the simple argument of "Liberty". If we are defining marriage as needing to be equal opportunity for all and that people in committed relationships deserve to have the benefits that a legally recognized marriage allows for ( survivor benefits, etc) then yes, Polygamy probably should be allowed.

Anyway... Fuck that guy. Two wives? Fuck that. I have enough issues with the one I have.

I think the issue you're talking about has nothing to do with marriage equality but just lack of monagamy. It's not likely anyone will stop that except climate/ resources changing which may lead to the world thinking the earth cannot support 10 billion people and so we need to not breed so much.

The old testament has a lot of polygamy and concubines going on, but the new testament started recommending avoiding sex to dedicate life to God, or "if you can't control yourself, take ONE wife." "Wife" (singular) is used most of the time through the new testament. Not much mention of concubines anymore either...
