Marriage counseling working....update

I began posting some stuff about my marriage here earlier this year. Most of it was how amazingly dysfunctional it was. After many weeks of counseling things have improved markedly.

All seems to be well. Our counselor told us 3 weeks ago that we were out of the woods, turned the corner, etc., but we were a bit skeptical.

It's kinda honeymoonish right now and very encouraging. FWIW, we have been to about 15 sessions, some of them 2 hours long, others 1.5. I think the longer sessions were more productvie. It's very good news for me since my kids just started school. I enjoy seeing them grow and being with them 24/7 vs. some arbitrated arrangement of visitation.

It could go south again, I suppose, but the last 3 weeks have been very, very good.

I just wanted to post something positive amidst the divorces and GF's leaving.

Congratulations on your success, it is great to see someone able to bridge once fallen gaps.

One question, what was islas advice? link?

But honestly, we don't argue to much anymore. Ever since I learned to help him keep his wallet full and his balls empty, he's quite easy to get along with. </a>

That's good news. Marriage is difficult and it's good when people want to try to work the problems out rather than just call it quits.

Glad to hear things are going well. Relationships can be complicated - it's cool when you can work through things and come out the other side.

FWIW, Bill Clinton, after going through marriage counseling, said that every married couple should do it, even if they're not having huge problems. Seems pretty effective. :)

Hmm.....most counseling centers will work with you on pricing. I'd suggest you find a professional to assist. Also, some churches offer counseling at no/reduced fee.

I'd say find a couple that has struggled with similar issues.

I don't know what you're difficulties are but you're not the first to experience it therefore someone else has conquered it.

There's hope, as long as you both want it to work.
