markup on handguns?

Does anyone know how's the mark-up for hanguns goes? cause i don't think $800 for a pistol is justified.

I know every american went out and bought one on September 12, 2001.

I'd say that might have something to do with a slight price increase, but I'd say it's either the dealer markup or the actual branding you're paying for.

well, glock, S&W, Walther, Springfield, all priced similared ($800 MSRP)

a .22 caliber cost like $250 while a .40 or .45 is around $800-$1000!!!

now i know a bigger barrel doesn't cost them an extra few hundred beans!

I think there's more to a .45 than a bigger bore. There are plenty of less expensive handguns out there.

$800 for a pistol is not justified as a self-defense pistol. You must be looking at either a new model, or some limited production piece, or a Colt 😀.

A new Glock, S&W, Beretta, Taurus, Springfield, or Walther whould be around $4-500.

What pistol are you looking at for $800?

Glocks aren't $800 unless you're talking CDN, in which case they should still only be $700-750 or so.

If you want a 1911 you can easily spend $800 (or more), but there are plenty of 1911's in the $400-500 range.

I'm have no idea, but there must be substantial flexibility in pricing. For example, I bought a Ruger 22 Stainless w/ competion grips around Xmas for my son. Local pricing was as follows:

Mom and Pop gun store, showroom is a converted garage. Always have excellent pricing and service. Price: $364

Much larger distributer: price $392

Decent size gun store: $409

Pretty big spread.

$800 for a pistol isnt that bad when you factor in the materials used, reliablity and ease of use, coupled w/ the $ spent on r&d for it

if you should be unfortunate enough to every have to pull and use a pistol, and it saves your life, then $800 will seem VERY cheap

That's only ~10%, not really that significant.

Nope, I see a much larger spread on computer parts and electronics.
