Marketing Question for all your marketing majors out there.

Increasingly, direct marketing makes if possible to offer consumers a customized products, with customized promotion, delivered directly. Is it also possible to offer a customized Price--each individual would get a price set from estimates of that individual's demand.

So I have a question is it a good idea-- for consumer, for society?

In some ways it can be. Like let's say I want to use a software product that costs $800. I can't afford more than $100, so instead I just steal the damn thing. if they could sell it to me for $100 they've now made money vs. getting none. Generally consumers consider this an inherently unfair approach, though.

in "theory", this would server everyone better, though you may want to talk to a econ professor to hear some opinions on the matter.

It won't happen, things don't sell like this and never will. It costs too much money and time to offer customized products/services. Remember KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid.

Since I'm a smart consumer, I don't need anyone to market to me, directly or otherwise.
