Ok...a little while back I posted about this, but this time I want to have some feedback as to whether or not you would buy this...

Keyboard 1

and another view...

Here

Basically, as you can see, it's a backlit keyboard. I make them myself, so you can pick any color you want. I was planning on putting a few up on auction on Ebay, and I was wondering if you all could tell me what a reasonable price would be for it. Materials cost about $40 + Keyboard, so about $60-70. To go along with this, if anybody could give me a site with the best price for a Microsoft internet keyboard, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Thats kinda cool, be much nicer if the keys were translucent. Maybe enough to see the lettering?

It would be much nicer if you could see the lettering on the keys. I probably wouldn't buy one either way, but I'm not much of a gadget person.

Yes I would buy it if you could make out the keys better(I'm sure there is a keyboard maker out there that has translucent keys) and I wouldn't want the keyboard to be so bright that it was distracting(maybe a dimmer).

I've thought about making one of these myself, but it seemed like a lot of work.

You have pictures of the keyboard in the dark, but really, how much time do you spend typing in the dark? It's cool that it's lit up but how visible is the lighting during daytime or with the lights on?

that would be sweeet if the only light that came through were from the lettering on the keys...you would need a special keyboard for it though...

Ok...so the general opinion is that it'd be better if it were translucent and you could make the keys out better? hmm. ok. Well also remember that most of the time you'll have light from your monitor on it, so it isn't completely dark. I took the pictures in the dark so it'd be easier to make out the glow. And it isn't as bright as it seems in the picture, that's just how the camera made it out to be. When I take it to LAN parties, It usually gets a good reaction. I think it'd compliment anybody who's got some sort of case mod, lights, etc.

If anybody could help me find a cheap translucent keyboard for PS2/PC systems, I will get one and see what it'd look like. Most of the translucent baords I have seen are Mac only :| Thanks for your input guys!

Edit: To answer another question, it is fairly visible in the daytime or with the ligts on, while it doesn't have the same effect.

Personally I don't think the maker of a translucent keyed keyboard would do it on purpose. It would just be that they chose to make their keys from less opaque material. I'll keep my eye out at the computer shows for you.

I type in the dark all the time. I'd like to have a backlit keyboard if it was powered by the USB or PS/2 port, had translucent keys, was able to turn the light on and off and didn't cost $70. :)

I was looking into getting it powered from the keyboard line itself, but I have been unsuccessful so far. Right now, It just has a small battery pack that also has an AC adaptor plug. It is easy to turn on/off.

Keep up with the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it.

Well, for cheap keyboards, theres plenty of cheap $10 keyboards at the shows or online that are translucent. Try to make it out of one of those.

You should be able to power it off the PS2 connector as it outputs 5 volts.
