As I note there are a number of threads on this forum started by Moonbeam and Texas Hiker based on the thesis that somehow conservatives and liberals can find something to admire in the other side of the fence?

As I have two things to say about that question?

1. Yes there is such a thing as a Good conservative as I proved to be maybe the good equivalent liberal. We met in the lunch room in what can only be described as a workplace that as a hot bed of political aparthy and basic ignorance of current issues. And we began
discussing poilitical issues during lunch. By no stretch of the imiganation could I describe him as stupid or uninformed, as my conservative protaganests found the same about me. But at least we could politely discuss our differnces without flying fisticuffs. But both of us started with the same thesis, that one of us would win the idiological argument and convince the other than they were wrong. Which never happened. But as we continued to bebate, something amazing ocurred to both of us, as we both had exactly the same end goals but the differnce was in how to get there.

2. As my other part of my argument is based on flashing back to the circa 1950 and the introduction of that wonder drug Thalidimide. As for the first time in human history, females had a proven drug to reduce the misery of preganacy. And indeed thalidimide lived up to it billing, all those smiling pregnant women, and all those smiling doctors who made their patients so happy. A drug company's PR dream come true.

Of course we can say that PR crashed and burned when all armless an legless babies were born.

And that is why we can't easily say conservativies or liberals are lying, both may have the best of intentions, but public policy has unforeseen results that we don't know yet.
