For those PM's that need a response, but you don't have the time to do so the minute you read them. Just a thought as I do this in OutlookXP all the time.

because many times I'll read an offer for a fs/ft item or something, and read it but want to get back to the guy later and if it goes to my "read" PM's 99% of the time I'll never follow up on it unless its a for sure thing. but if it stays unread then it will be all up in my face every time I log on to anandtech and it reminds me to reply

Well, so far I've not had any such problems - lots of transactions, lots of people. If it's really such an issue, PM yourself a reminder.

Ever try to PM yourself? The PM disappears as if it cancels itself out into the PM void.:p

I would also like the feature. I use an excell worksheet for stuff I need to keep track of for now.

Actually, if you open the PM to yourself, then click view history, all of the PM's you sent to yourself will be accounted for (twice). :)

I could use it myself. I log on at work and check my PM's and don't always remember which ones were the really important ones when I get home.

Yea this would be a nice feature, because when Im at school I check my Pms but dont have time to respond, so when i get home, i have to remember that i checked my pms at school, and get back to the person. Sometimes I forget, this os a good idea.

I think this would be a fantastic feature IMO.

but..isn't it ironic to mark it as unread? if u have time to read, why dont u have time to respond?

There are many times when I don't have time to do what is in an IM.

An excellent point! :) More so, I think, if it's involving a deal in the FS/T forum - it's important to at the very least acknowledge offers and inquiries from others. If you've got time to read it, you've got a few seconds to acknowledge it and say you'll reply in depth a little later.

So far, the only use I've found for "Mark As Unread" in Outlook is with the VoiceMail system we have tied into our Email at work - I can Unread or "UnListen" to a voicemail so I can forward the original message to another party.

I'll go out on a limb and take a guess that "It won't be happening." ;)

the "little later" is the problem, I'll get too busy to login to anandtech for a day or two and when I log in I dont see any new messages so I forget about one I wanted to follow up on.

look its like 20-2 for/against this feature, it would be pretty simple to code I bet, so why not? if you dont have a use for it, then simply dont use it

Last I checked, the Anandtech forums weren't a democracy, so the "20 to 2" vote is mostly irrelevant.

As of this post, 96537 users are registered to the AnandTech forums, and of all those, only 20 people are clamoring for this important feature??

Lastly, as stated in another thread:

As Zuni just said:
"We do not alter the forums in any way, so please do not ask as we will not modify the forum code."
