Mario Kart Wii: Anyone else ever notice online...

...that some people are just unbeatable?

I was playing online today and a guy named "Derek" was in the game. I played about ten games with that group, and he got first in every single race. He had a score of about 8900. I know some people are really good, but come on! There were a few races where serious funny business was going on. He would get blue shelled and keep going like nothing ever happened. One time I was in second and a few turns from the finish line on the third lap. I red-shelled him three times and he still finished in first. 😕

I understand that with lag issues sometimes people will just pop in front of you out of nowhere, but this was happening way too often.

I've only been playing SP to unlock stuff, so I don't know how MP works w/ MK Wii. I remember in past MK, you can't hold a shell to protect yourself from shells hitting you. Did they change that in MK Wii? And I know you can out run blue shell if you time a boost just right. Or maybe dude bought some cheat device to make himself invincible?

I'm pretty sure there are people cheating in the online play with the new Mario Kart, as I've noticed a lot of the same things as the OP. Some people have way too much free time to crack the game, and no sense of honor in the online multiplayer.

I have noticed sometimes two players have the exact same Mii. Nintendo bots?

Umm that's because 2 players are playing on the same Wii, split screen, one using a normal Mii, the other is a 'guest'.

In the first Kart Tournament, some dude in my 'region' beat my time and everyone else's by a good 40 seconds. When I got my time, I was lucky enough to not have been hit at all by any shells, not spin out, and stayed on the track... My time was good enough to put me towards the front of the people who were playing it normally, not first, but I was using automatic instead of manual at the time....

There's just about no way that I can see how he could have gotten his time legitimately.
