Mario Galaxy is absolutely awesome...

its ridiculously easy. Now there are some cool puzzles, but 95% of this is just a walk through the park. Super Mario World was a greater challenge (Especially some of those boss dungeons and subsequent battles)

oh - and they SLIGGHTLY overdid Mario talking again.

Of course despite these it gets A+++, actually kept me entertained after 15 minutes whereas I completely stopped caring in Super Mario Sunshine.
Who cares about a water gun? Give me a koopa turtle shell any day over a jet of H20.

Have you collected all of the stars? Some of them, such as Luigi's purple coins, can be quite difficult. Of course the game isn't as difficult as the old Mario games, but isn't that the general trend of things?

I'm just a few galaxies in...I started a few days ago and don't play that much. I think I have 15 stars at the moment, but so far I feel the difficulty level is already flat...or it just slopes up VERY slowly.

The game doesn't really get difficult until the last 20-30 stars, and even then, the difficulty is far from overwhelming.

were the older marios really that much harder? i went and played through smb3 a couple years back and it was a breeze.

SMB3 was easy. The earlier games were harder. So was Sunshine. Not sure about Mario 64 (never played it, GASP!).

Sunshine was HARD compared to SMG. But yeah, SMG does ramp it up quite a bit towards the end. Luigis purple coins will kick your ass (took me about 30 tries).

the purple coin stars just are not fun to get though.

i didn't get stuck on any of them yet or have much trouble on any of them yet, but they are just not fun to get.

im at 112 stars and really have no urge to get the rest.

To me SMB3 was challanging..then again I haven't played it since 2nd grade when my motor skills were probably still forming 😉

SMW was a good mixture of challenge that wasn't frustrating. Even to this day it proves to be enjoyable and chock full of little secrets, as well as great 2-D animation.

Maybe I'll go back and try SMS again if it was harder simply because I want a greater challange xD I just couldn't get my interest to pique even a smidge so I quickly put it down.

But I'll play later today and report if at least the difficulty is slightly noticeable. I can see for kids thought how it gets a little harder, but Nintendo also has to remember it has a group that grew up on that and they need to please them as well =)

neh, guess i've lost my gaming ways. I have 100 stars. I started on some of the purple coin ones and flat out gave up.. I don't have the patience.. haha. mainly it's because I never could get the hang of analog stick controls. throw in the wonky gravity+my laziness.. yeah, haha.

but yes, bowser was pretty damn easy. A little disappointing. Sadly, I had more trouble with the rock-thing boss...

The levels where they are just spread all over the place and you have to run around for 20 minutes collecting them all aren't very fun, but the ones where it's a timed run and you have to collect all in 2-4 minutes are a blast, imo.

How are Luigi levels differ from Mario levels? I figure it would be easier instead since he jumps higher and runs faster than that fatso Mario.
I got 120 coins, never bothered to try for 240 with Luigi.

Yeah those timed runs that make you collect 100/150 are fun.

Its not the luigi levels, its the purple coin on toy time on the back of luigi's 8-bit block thingy.

Yeah that one was definitely the toughest, probably lost 30+ lives on that one as well.

Just got all 120 stars though, woot! Now I need to beat Bowser again and I guess that unlocks Luigi? Are there any other secrets to unlock or is Luigi it?

Nah, its really pointless.

I collected all 120 stars, and then beat bowser to unlock Luigi.

I started playing it again as Luigi, waiting for something different, so I went to a walkthrough to see whats up, at the end it says after you beat the game over AGAIN as luigi, you unlock a new galaxy for the 121st star.

Pointless, so I stopped. Kinda wish there was more incentive to play, fantastic game.

SMB3 and SMW weren't really that hard, but SMB and Lost Levels are hard as heck for me. I can never seem to control mario well enough.

Also, my favorite Mario game is a through up between SMG and SMW; I love both of the games to death.

The purple coin levels can be fun or tedious; I enjoy the ones where you race against the clock. Also, the other comets can add a fun factor. Fighting Bouldergeist with a daredevil comet was entertaining.

Wait till you get 120 stars. A handful of them are reasonably challenging, but I do think there should have been more stars that weren't easy to get.

Thinking of the difficulty though, Nintendo has to think of people who have never played a Mario game before. Sure there are veterans, but it was probably a higher priority to make the game more approachable to new people.

Definitely an incredible game though.

I'll have to agree with you on that, does seem pretty pointless. I'm definitely not gonna go through the whole game again just to unlock a single-star galaxy. 😛

The level designs and the game itself is unique and very creative. I've just started it, and I think it's just easy-going fun. It reminded me of the last Zelda. Great game, but easy....but I really really enjoyed it. Games aren't supposed to be hard enough to the point of getting frustrating 😛

They should at least be a little more challenging. Honestly, when I was a kid playing 8-bit games, a difficult game wasnt a bad thing. That was the only game I was going to get for a few months, so it damn well had better last. I'd be dissapointed if I could run right through it like that. If anything, kids can stand more difficult games than most adults, so I really dont see why some games are getting SO easy, especially nintendo ones.

Hard games arent frustrating. Cheap ones are.
