It seems simply not being a piece of shit is a far more difficult achievement than I had previously considered.

It's funny, I'm 43 years old and quite honestly can say I have never done anything like this to a woman. I guess I can't even comprehend the mindset of somebody in these situations and thinking "fuck it, I'm going to do XYZ to her". Do they even have that thought process? it just goes to show that any position of power seems to corrupt people in some way. I guess I just don't understand the meat-headedness of these guys.

QFT. I have never done anything even close to this, and it has never occurred to me to even try that lol.

https://ny.eater.com/2017/12/11/16759540/mario-batali-sexual-misconduct-allegations

Four women accuse the chef of inappropriate touching in a pattern of behavior that spans at least two decades, according to dozens of Eater interviews

Is there even going to be any employed men left?

Probably!

With that said, this basically validates what women have been saying for decades (or really, centuries): that there's a systemic problem with sexual harassment and assault among men. Yes, most men don't grope, catcall or rape, but that's not the point. It's that society has let this behavior slide despite it being all too common, and that famous/rich men in particular get away with it because society has been more interested in protecting male reputations than doing the right thing.

I'm reminded more than a little of that SNL "Welcome to Hell" sketch when Saoirse Ronan was on. Hey guys, you think it sucks that a celebrity was ruined for you? How about having to hold your keys like a weapon in the parking garage so that some creep won't try to rape you?

And don't get me wrong, there's plenty of women I've worked with that I would have liked to but obviously didn't act on those thoughts.

I even find it odd, and out of place when male coworkers will comment on girl XYZ in the office behind their backs. It's just so out of place... I don't get it.

There's been a ton of complaints against Gordon Ramsay over the years too. Wonder if those will resurface.

At least the guy gets his fifteen minutes now. I never heard of him before and likely never will again.

Correction. Not being a POS that holds power.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It corrupts people who can be corrupted. For some people morality isn't based on fear so power and the absolute ability to control ones circumstances can't corrupt it. There is a kind of morality that is moral not because of external rules but based on internal faith that right really is right. It is never right to assert ones own sexual needs over what another person feels or to convince yourself that you know what they feel without them being expressed.

Same. I had a Mom and 3 older sisters. This kind of behaviour has never computed...

I never seen his face on a can in the grocery store. Chef Boyardee is famous; this guy, not so much.

Look on the spaghetti sauce aisle, his face is there.

Not entirely true. I think that people attracted to power are much more sociopathic than the population at large. They tend not to consider other humans as anything other than a means to an end.

Yes, politicians are more likely than people in the general population to be sociopaths. I think you would find no expert in the field of sociopathy/psychopathy/antisocial personality disorder who would dispute this... That a small minority of human beings literally have no conscience was and is a bitter pill for our society to swallow — but it does explain a great many things, shamelessly deceitful political behavior being one.

Yeah I don’t know what they are going to do with all of that, surely not pull all of the sauces and pots and pans and such. They did with Paula Deen though so who knows.
