Marines Investigate Photo Posted on Web

By DOUG SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer

NEW ORLEANS - The Marines are investigating a photograph circulating on the Internet that depicts a soldier with two Iraqi boys and a sign, in English, proclaiming the soldier had killed one boy's father and impregnated the boy's sister.

A Washington, D.C.-based Muslim civil rights group complained about the photo and urged the Marines to punish the soldier.

Investigators have not determined if the photo showing Lance Cpl. Ted J. Boudreaux Jr. was altered, said Capt. Jeffrey Pool, a spokesman for Marine Reserves in New Orleans.

Results of the investigation and possible punishment were expected Wednesday, Pool said.

"How the military reacts to this case I think will send a message to Muslims in the Middle East and worldwide as to how seriously the United States takes these issues," said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Boudreaux is with the Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines; the company was deployed in Iraq (news - web sites) from last May to September. Pool said he did not know exactly when Boudreaux was in Iraq.

No phone number for the soldier could be obtained Tuesday.

Thanks for the links, as I hadn't seen either picture. I just saw the article on Yahoo! News and figured it was discussion-worthy.

I was informed earlier that image is photoshopped and it originated from a conservative website. The person that told me this was however unable to find the original posting.

Maybe I'm just a sucker, but he looks like a nice guy, and I'd hate to think he did something like that.

On the other hand, they wouldn't need to find him first if they just wanted to let everyone know he didn't do it :frown:

I wonder what the real sign said

I am not saying that the guy did anything wrong but please do not be so naive. Ted Bundy looked like a nice guy to all the women he picked up but we all know what he was all about.

I wonder if CAIR has said anything about the Muslims in Iraq that are kidnapping and murdering civilians?

Or is that ok with them since it is Muslims doing it?

The Council on American-Islamic Relations in general, and Ibrahim Hooper in particular, like to bitch a lot about the perpetual victimization of Muslims. He was on most of the major news networks for a few months after 9/11 acting as some sort of self-appointed spokesman for Islam in America, then he just disappeared when everybody figured out that he was really just a whiney bitch.

America is a culture of victimization. Exploit it while you can.

I doubt the "bad" version of the sign is the real one, although it wouldn't surprise me much.
