More than 1,000 U.S. Marines were deployed about 60 miles away from the city at a crude airstrip within striking distance of the city, and military sources told NBC News that the troops could soon launch house-to-house combat raids in the city to root out leaders of the Taliban and the al-Qaida network run by Osama bin Laden, who is suspected of masterminding the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

The Marines were tight-lipped about their plans, but a senior intelligence officer said the fight for Kandahar was reaching a ?culmination point.?

I think to be correct that the though was last week, and the advanced party might have left.

When you know of someone who is going over there, who is about to lay his life on the line for yours then
please come back and complain.

But until then I get to see those young Marines say good bye to their loved
ones, not sure of the mission at hand. I do not care if it was last weeks news, it should be in the news each
and every day.

Or has the American and world anger died and gone away.

Drop the self-righteousness for JUST a moment. Nobody is saying this is "old news". When you started the thread it was as if it was breaking news on CNN and nobody had heard about it for a moment. I was merely stating that we were all aware of this.
