What's the BFD? Anyone ever see the crossfit games? Women can be trained to do pullups and then adminisister the new standards.

Even really fit women have trouble with this

Nawww... a lot of really fit women can easily do 10-12 pull ups no sweat. Damn I have seen them in the gym. I looked on youtube and you can find hundreds of fit females doing pull ups with no issue:

The problem is that no one is training these women in our armed forces. I wonder why that is? They should be getting physical fitness training and brought up to speed with everyone else.

Women can do pull ups, but they need to train for it. This just sounds like more crap from those in the military who have agendas against having women in the military. If you don't train them then you can point fingers and say "see they can't even do pull ups"!

The standards are already lowered for women in the military because the typical woman can't hack it. So the standards are lowered until a certain number of women in the services are retained. This standard is set at such a level to create a viable female population in order to promote into the higher ranks. It takes a certain xxx number for each higher rank.

Morons like Oldgamer think there's some agenda, but he's not recognizing the real agenda with standards, women, and the military. The simply fact is the typical male vs. the typical female the male is physically more capable. Going off aberations in the female population as a justification for ALL females is ridiculous. These aberations need to train more than males in order to accomplish what even weakling males can do.

I'll tell you right now that if we just said fuck it! Open it all up to women regardless and then held them to the same standard as men the population for higher ranked officers and enlisted women would dwindle to ZERO.

From the article:
Starting with the new year, all female Marines were supposed to be able to do at least three pullups on their annual physical fitness test and eight for a perfect score. The requirement was tested in 2013 on female recruits at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., but only 45 percent of women met the minimum, Krebs said.

So yes women were able to do pullups. The problem is the number was lower than what certain people, and I think we all know who those people are, deemed "correct".

Crossfit pull ups, are not Marine Corps pull ups. You cannot kip, sway, swing, or do any of the other stuff they do in crossfit games. You hang there elbows all the way straight, go up till your chin is over the bar, go back all the way down. Straight up, and down. Nothing else.

Sure women can train to do them correctly, and do a lot of them. Crossfit games are women at the height of training and their bodies capabilities. Comparing them is just silly.

The fact is, women shouldn't be in real combat roles. Their bodies are not designed to do the same things. Everything about their physical training is geared different because their bodies are made differently. In boot camp for the E course and others, when you get to the part where you scale a wall, there is a male and female wall. The female wall is far shorter. They do a LOT less in the CFT in all three sections. And now they can't even do 3 pull ups. Even if they did, they don't need to get 20 to get a perfect score like males do.

I only watched the first video. Those "pull ups' WOULD NOT COUNT in the Marine Corps. You cannot sway and kip. Both of which makes them way easier.

If you don't think they are getting physical training while in boot camp, you're delusional.

the first video had the most kipping. 2nd, looked ok. No kip to start, almost looked like she did an extra knee tuck near the end.

3rd very little to no kip, but did not go down all the way.

There are artifacts in south america that suggest male prisoners of war were used as sex slaves for the opposing army.

In other words, lay down and take it in the ass like a good boy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moche_culture

In 2013 archaeologists unearthed a female skeleton taken as confirmation that the Moche were ruled by a succession of priestesses who also acted as queens. "This find makes it clear that women didn't just run rituals in this area but governed here and were queens of Mochica society," said project director Luis Jaime Castillo, according to the Associated Free Press. "It is the eighth priestess to be discovered," he added. "Our excavations have only turned up tombs with women, never men." [14]
Both iconography and the finds of human skeletons in ritual contexts seem to indicate that human sacrifice played a significant part in Moche religious practices. These rites appear to have involved the elite as key actors in a spectacle of costumed participants, monumental settings and possibly the ritual consumption of blood.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moche_culture#cite_note-Rites-7
The Moche may have also held and tortured the victims for several weeks before sacrificing them, with the intent of deliberately drawing blood. Verano believes that some parts of the victim may have been eaten as well in ritual cannibalism.[7]

Interesting.

I can't help but feel like there is a spectrum of how a society can view/treat women, homosexuals, etc and somewhere like Afghanistan represents going way too far in one direction, and western nations now represent going way too far in the other direction.

I think the closest to the right balance was something like the US in the 1950's. I'm not saying it was perfect then, I think there was some adjustment necessary to open up more opportunities to women, but I think we overshot the mark by a very large margin when we sought to correct those.

They are being trained, and the fact that 45% of them can do the pullups is a testament to that training. Unfortunately there's only so much progress that can be made in 3 months. Many women take up to a year of training before they can do a single pullup.

Holding out the most physically elite women as an example of what women can do is disingenuous, as they represent the top 5% of physically fit women, AND they likely aren't joining the USMC to go into combat arms. At the same time, women joining the USMC likely are in the top 15% of physically fit women just based on recruiting standards.

Something that a lot of civilians have a hard time wrapping their heads around is the fact that the military is not a physical fitness program. It's not zumba, or crossfit, or anything else designed to get you in shape. You're supposed to be in shape when you join. The physical training in boot camp and beyond is to maintain that level of fitness, but primarily to build mental toughness and camaraderie.
