Sounds like a candidate for a Dishonorable Discharge. The idea of "conscientious objector" was designed for people who were drafted. No one who voluntarily enlists should be allowed to claim that status.

i have to agree with this. IF you join the armed forces you should know that you may have to KILL one day. That is what you are trained to do. Any male knows that

i hope he ends up in the brigg for a time. He stole money out of my pocket to pay for his college carrer. Now when it comes time to do his job he refuses.

I think most people I've met in the military are pretty clear on this ... even the chairborne rangers. But especially so for Marines ... It's tough to have a conversation with a Marine without talk of killing people coming into it 🙂

Don't they teach hand to hand combat in basic training? What about marksmanship? Did he think that marines fight wars by having taget practice matches? What about grenade training?

That would be an interesting war...... "Next up, Muhahmad Ishimal. What a great throw! The judges are giving him good solid scores..... Wow, perfect 10s across the boards! And the Iraqis win the war!" 😀

I am a marine and there is no way you cannot know buy the 4th week of boot camp what the mission is of the marines. You are told that every one in the Marines is a basic infantry. You also go over the mission of the Marine corp. on top of everything you go and shoot at targets that are shaped like a human. You all so go to a combat school that every marine goes to that teach you how fight will all the small arms in the Marines and how to do hand to hand combat. This to me sound like he never though he would go to war, so he joined up for all the benefits, but now that its time to go to war he doesn?t want to. I know at my unit we were told that if you object to killing then tell us now not once a war starts. He knew what was happening all along. i dont have an issue with him objecting but i do with the way it was done. he had plenty of time to say that he objected and he waited until the unit had left before he did. thats the part that burns me :disgust:

I agree 100%. That's pretty bad. He knew exactly what he was doing, and he's a fool for doing it. There are plenty of other ways to get college paid for. He should have looked into those.

While he is a complete idiot for not realizing that, at least he's not shipping out into a combat zone. I'd be pissed off if some idiot like that was watching my back. Let him clean the head for the rest of his time in.

There was a member of the military during the 1st Gulf conflict (I think) that was trying to claim conscientious objector status. He claimed that he joined never expecting to have to face armed conflict. I don't remember the final outcome, though.

"It's gonna be a toughday for the Iraqis Jim.. Looks like the US has brought out Tonya Harding in the javelin toss..."

😛

God has a hard-on for marines because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls!

"They don't really advertise that they kill people," Funk said. "I didn't really realize the full implications of what I was doing and what it really meant to be in the service as a reservist."

What a moron. :disgust:

Absolutely. What the fork did he think the US military does? It's not like he joined the French army..

He belongs in the French army

You may join the military for a myriad of interesting or even selfish reasons. But the militatary joins you for one reason.

Because they need your L33T Kill-Bot Skillz. DUH. That's why I've never joined, despite the benefits.

i don't understand.. i mean this guy went through all the training right? he's a full fledged marine, reserve or not.. he shot GUNS at body-shaped targets... what did he expect the training was for? to shoot cans off a fence? this guy is a moron..

I hope they are charged for every damn cent of finacial aide for school, and anything else they didn't earn.

guns don't kill people, bullets do

thought it was the disruption to the central nervous and other systems combined with rapid blood loss that killed people.... 🙂

Someone once said, "You learn something new everyday." I guess it was his day to learn what the Marines are all about. :clock: :Q
