Also I'd honestly think Tobacco would be higher up on the dependence scale. I can say from my experience that it's far more addictive than the stuff right around it, as well as cocaine, not sure about heroin as I've never touched it. It would be the end of me.

I think nicotine is rather close to opiates in terms of addictive substances. Nicotine acts in very similar manners--completely rewires your brain towards utter dependence on the substance for what would otherwise be naturally-secreted hormones and neurotransmitters.

I seem to remember a few studies that suggested they were the most addictive, but either way, opiates/nicotine are King.

I think that it breaks down some limitations in how our brain works, routing signals different routes which can lead to new and creative ideas, but I think you have to have the creativity or intellect before hand.

I know the pot of today is MUCH different than the pot of my youth...almost like comparing "near beer" to Everclear...so I'm not surprised that the "spacy pot smoker" stereotype is getting more and more common.
Does that mean that I think everyone who enjoys a toke or two is a total space-out? No...but many are...they just don't seem to recognize it in themselves.

The thing about today's domestically grown, high quality weed is that it is MUCH more expensive than Mexican weed. Thus it is sold in much smaller quantities and is usually smoked in a pipe instead of a joint. Glass pipes made for high quality weed have much smaller bowls than older style pipes, too. So, even if newer weed has 5 times the THC per volume of plant material as the weed of yore, the fact that it is usually consumed at about the same ratio the other way counterbalances it. Unless you're an idiot, like Heller.

Yes, the typical stereotype is a lazy, taco eating goon. Drugs do different things to different people period. When I used to toke up I VERY rarely developed 'munchies'. Every now and then I might if I haven't ate in a while. I like to be productive, build a playground(true story) or wakeboard, or even run a few miles. I will have to agree that pot won't open your brain up to allow you to divide by zero but it definitely did things for me as far as studying goes and carrying on specific task related to school and sometimes work(when I used to wait tables, etc). Of course sometimes I could chief too hard and be worthless but you just have to know your limits.

I'm about as "anti-drug" as you can get...although I DO think marijuana should be legalized and controlled like liquor (spirits, not beer/wine) is controlled...sold in liquor stores to the "over-21 crowd," taxed, and regulated. Take it away from the "criminal element," and reduce the costs involved with prosecution/incarceration, remove the money made by the cartels and other criminals currently involved in the smuggling/growing/sales, plus, by taxing it, make a nice dent in the budget deficits of local, state, and federal budgets.

I think it takes a certain type of mind for this to happen, though. Some people just get fucking dumb when they get high. Others get more introspective.

this with boots on. most of the time when i talk to the majority of the potheads i know, they are trying hard to be philosophical or intellectual. most of the time they sound like they are trying to say large words just to use them. also, a lot of the time they combine things that make no sense, like football and book reading, making a whole new activity that is just stupid.

when i used to toke, i would either chill, watch tv with friends, skate, walk around, be at a concert or play video games. i didnt want to sit around and wax poetic.
