You're missing the point of last year's Rubio scandal. For years Rubio claimed his parents fled Cuba because of the Castro takeover. Turns out the truth is they immigrated here a few years BEFORE the revolution. When the truth came out Rubio claimed he was relying upon "family legends."

Are you claiming that this MSNBC political piece isn't intended to be a negative piece on Republican Senator Rubio?

I've had a few contributors here at P&N lately criticize me because i'm upfront about my conservative/Republican partisanship. That somehow my being honest about my stance is a bad thing. I guess they like seeing people like you and first etc. being disingenuous about their political stance.
Any reasonable person reading this story by MSNBC will know it for what it is, which is a political hit piece.

Really? Not a hit piece? The enthusiastic and faithful descriptions coming from, wait, a democratic senator cousin and his sister who remembered this 33 years ago? Oh yes, mr buzzfeed, he was an enthusiastic and faithful little 8 year mormon.

It's all about context and politics. He was 8 years old and joined when his family joined. It lasted a few years until his family switched to catholic.

How did I feel at the time? That most of it was bullshit. He joined the church for political reasons and for Chicago it was a pretty good move, Wright was popular, drew big crowds and had lots of political connections. It's an example of regional politics that don't play well nationally. I would classify most the Wright/Obama pieces as hit pieces.

It's a horrible thing to see in this day and age, but we still have people that are uninformed, ignorant bigots about other peoples religions. The Rubio story was a hit piece in an attempt to smear him with the hatred and the unreasoning bile that some people have about non main stream faiths. It's a sad thing.
