Now, if my local affiliate would just start broadcasting in DD5.1 on all CBS HD shows....

They've been broadcasting the tournament for the past 21 years.
My local NBC affiliate broadcast the 1980 UofL win over UCLA (it was shown by NBC back then) on Sat. night in honor of the 25th anniversary (and in honor of the Derek Smith memorial fund)

Was so funny seeing the short shorts and the disco-remnant fashions in the crowd. 😉

Sucked hearing Billy Packer's biased mouth, though. I swear, UofL has never gotten respect. That 1980s team had the chemistry. Hell! They *invented* the High-Five!

They've been broadcasting the tournament for the past 23 years.

Um, duh?

It still sucks. If ESPN had it they could use their 87 channels to show all the games.

They just have 2 channels on which they could broadcast games (ESPN and ESPN 2) CBS will do as they've done in the past, regionalize the games.

But, I believe they're going to multi-cast this year. It's good in a way that you'll get to see more games if you have DTV capabilities. It will suck, though, if you're trying to watch a game in HD since the SD channels will be sucking up bandwidth resulting in artifacting galore on the HD channel

WLKY, Insight Team Up To Show More NCAA Tourney Games
http://www.thelouisvillechannel.com/collegecorner/4261891/detail.html
LOUISVILLE -- Every year for the last five years, the Louisville area has led the country in the viewing of the men's NCAA basketball tournament on WLKY NewsChannel 32.

And now, through the use of WLKY's digital signal, coverage of the tournament in the leading basketball market in the country will get even better. WLKY and CBS announced, as a public service, a plan that will give Louisville-area basketball fans additional game-viewing choices for this year's NCAA basketball tournament.

In addition to the game broadcast on WLKY's analog channel 32, the station will broadcast up to two other games simultaneously on their digital broadcast channels 32-1 and 32-2. For those without digital television, Insight Cable has agreed to carry these games on Insight's digital tier. The additional games will be carried on Insight channels 126 or 127 or both, depending on the number of games being played simultaneously. Those games available in high definition will continue to air on WLKY's digital 32-1 and on Insight's high definition tier (for subscribers) on channel 763.

The tournament begins Thursday, March 17. For the first four days of the tournament -- from March 17 to March 20 -- the tournament game of local interest will air on analog Channel 32, while two additional games will be carried simultaneously on digital channels 32-1 and 32-2, and Insight cable channels 126 and 127.

On Thursday, March 24, and Friday, March 25, the game of local interest will air on analog Channel 32, and one other game will air on digital channel 32-1 and Insight cable channel 126. Beginning on March 26 with the regional finals, only one game will be played at a time, so all remaining games will air on analog channel 32 and digital channel 32-1.

"America's best college basketball fans live right here in Greater Louisville," WLKY-TV General Manager Jim Carter said. "WLKY-TV has been the highest-rated station for March Madness for the last five years in a row, and this is our way of saying thank you."

I did the online deal last year. This year it's $19.99 and I'm not sure I will spend that much. I think last year was $9.99 or $12.99.

I found the quality to be watchable for the most part. It was good for use at the office and for flipping to close games while I was at home.

Still, $19.99 is almost too much unless the feeds and speeds are much better this year.

CBS-HD MarchMadness >>>> ESPN or anybody else.

I will be able to watch 3 games (have E/W feeds from BEV) plus whatever my local CBS shows.

Well damnit, I caught part of the Utah-UTEP game today, and it wasn't in HD through local CBS affiliate on Comcast. I've got it on OTA and it's STILL not in HD. WTF?!!? Is anyone seeing the games in HD?
