I just got the Marantz SR5010 and after setting up and updating firmware, it would change hdmi input while either watching a blu Ray or tv and I would have to re select the correct input with remote to go back. So far it's happened 3 separate times after turning it on. I wanted to try reinstalling firmware but after I did a fActory reset it still says latest firmware. Does it not roll back after a reset?

Reset does not rollback firmware. Sounds like an HDMI CEC settings issue which you can turn off. I also have a 2015 Marantz. I also run into an issue where it assumes I have ARC off my TV (which it doesn't) and it will always switch to TV input. It was just a matter of turning that feature off.

I don't blame you if trying to understand what happens when you turn CEC on is confusing. I love it and enjoy it when it works, but not all my equipment supports or fully supports it. When it does though... it's freakin' magic and I want it on. See a youtube or new episode off HBO GO off the iPad and want it on the TV. Tap the chromecast icon, then like magic. TV turns on, correct inputs chosen. Depending on what you choose your receiver turns on too or stay off. Again, all depends on the settings you choose. Luckily, but confusingly every input has it's own set of HDMI CEC settings.

You had ARC enabled on the Marantz and when u turned it off that fixed it for you? I already had that disabled. I'm hoping the factory reset cleared it out. I know hdmi pass through has to do with standby mode but u think that's messing with anything?

Turn off HDMI CEC on both the receiver and TV. Also turn off signal power on for the inputs you want.

Hdmi Cec is off on both ends. I didn't see an option to disable inputs only to hide them from gui. I have arc off since I'm not gonna use it. There are 2 hdmi outputs on the avr (monitor 1 arc and monitor 2). Marantz tech support told me to use monitor 1 regardless whether I chose to use arc or not. Should I use monitor 2?

Factory reset will not turn features off. In fact by default a reset will turn probably turn everything on. Even Bluetooth and the built in web server! You will want to turn all advanced features off which will be a chore since every input has it's own settings. If you turn off HDMI CEC/passthrough feature for one input, you'll have to turn it off for the next input. Speaking of which you may want to use it's web server to configure, it is faster since nearly all settings are displayed on one page per input, but it is still faster.

Go through every screen on the marantz gui. The damn thing has way too many features to list and you probably missed something.
