Hi. My first is C, my CD Drive is D, my 2nd Hd is E and then 2nd CD is F. How do i go about assigning so they're next to each other (same types i mean). Forgot how to do this. 😱
OS is WinXP Pro
TIA

right click my computer->storage->disk management->right click on whatever drive->Change Drive Letter and Paths...

No, I mean I have installed two drives into my chassi. They're independent, both with C: (and one has a D: partition).

Once I install Windows, what will happen?

Not sure exaclty what you're asking. There should be no problem and Windows should treat the primary drive (the one you have Windows installed on) as C: and the secondary drive will be D:.

So, when I install, say, WindowsXP on my new SATA drive, and give it C: and D: partitions, my second hard drive (IDE) with WindowsME on it will have its C: partition reasigned to E:?

No, in that situation, XP will likely treat the existing primary partition of the IDE drive as D: and will probably assign the SATA D: partition as E:. It's no big deal, though....just use Computer Management as described above if the drive order isn't to your liking.
