I have a very basic system that runs XP Pro w/ standard file/print sharing to 4 other computers. I have had it loaded and running for the last 3yrs easy. I do not use this system to browse the net or anything. It just shares a few drives and a HP printer. I have not changed anything software wise to the the basic service. It has Symantec Client security and SpySweeper as protection software.

1.) My first issue that has been going on for quite sometime. I can ping my 192.168.0.104 server from all the systems and get to my shared content through that means always. But if I search under my workgroup listing for the system called "server" it does not show up. The only thing I tried recently was to change the workgroup name from an old name to "server". After I did that I could now see the server PC under other systems. But a day later it does not show up under workgroup again. I have to allows access it through shortcuts or mapped shortcuts. Never see it under workgroup. Why?

2.) My second issue is my main everyday system was just reloaded w/ XP pro(gave up on Vista). I have for a long time now used a shortcut to a mapped drive on the server with no issues. Now for whatever reason with this new install it cannot reconnect to the mapped drive on restart. I have my favorites, pictures, music and a few programs access there content from the server instead of default C drive locations. This has always worked well but now upon reboot it won't reconnect. I get the standard "mapped drive could not reconnect" error in systray. Now all I have to do is click my mapped drive shortcut on my desktop screen and it shows and reconnects. It never used to do this with MANY installs and systems to this basic server. Why?

Thanks for anyone taking the time to try to help. Thank you.
