Map Point 2004 vs Map Point 2004 North America

Has anybody used this software or have any knowledge of it's functionality? I was wondering if there were any significant differences in the functionality or abilities of the two software packages other than the North American version limiting it's functions to North America? The difference in price between the two is pretty big... $45 for the North American version vs $200+ for the standard version.

hmm, I've never heard of those 2 version differences... I've heard of Mappoint 2004 NA vs. Mappoint 2004 Europe.

Perhaps the standard is combined ? Nothing about this on the MS website.

could be... i've seen "map point 2004" and "map point 2004 North America" on various sales websites and the price difference was consistant. We only need north America really if we were to buy this software, but with such a large price difference I really wonder if there is more left out of the "north america" version.

Like you said, they don't really say anything about it on Microsoft's web site...

I have the NA version and the Europe version...I haven't seen any other version....even on an MSDN listing

Here is a link that shows the different versions.. but it doesn't give any information about them, it's just a site that compares prices and lists various places to buy them.

I believe that the more expensive version comes with a USB GPS device.

completely strange... if you go to that link... then go to buy.com from the link there for the versions, it will not differentiate them either. But the more expensive one says this in the buy.com description:

MapPoint is available in two editions: MapPoint 2004 North America and MapPoint 2004 European Edition ... but it makes no mention of what's IN THE BOX.
