Hi,

Two days ago I formated my system, and of course had to re-install Windows XP Home Edition. So I did that. As usual. I directly installed Service Pack 2 afterwards, and then, I went on the Internet to download all the missing SP 2 updates I had to download. And it worked well. But there was one thing that didn't work. It was my legit Windows Key. I used it too much in the past months, and couldn't activate Windows anymore with it.

So I called Microsoft just a few minutes ago, and they gave me an all new Windows Key, and it worked great, no problems, and now my Windows is activated.

I thought I had some of my important Windows services disabled, because it wasn't activated.

I was wrong !

I was 100% sure, that I couldn't access those services, directly caused by the fact that Windows wasn't activated. I could have bet anything on that, and thanks God I didn't bet.

So, I'm asking here...what do you guys think I should do ? What is possible to do in such a situation ?

Here's the problem, more detailed.

I cannot access many of the important Windows services. Such as Diskeeper (It's the integrated Windows Hard-Disk defrager), Run / Exec command line (The place where we can type things like services.msc, msconfig, dxdiag and more). Also, any Windows Installer packages do not work at all. Double-clicking on them to execute the installer results in absolutely nothing.

It's just like I would have Windows "restrictions" / "limits".

Should I add the fact that I can access these Windows services in Safe Mode without problems.

But in Normal Mode, all I can do is...well, everything but the things related to Windows services / features.

What do you guys think is the cause of all this ?

Do you guys think I could try un-installing one or more specific application ? Is there anything that's preventing me to have a fully working Windows XP ?

I'd greatly appreciate any kind of help here.

Thanks for your time.

Simple question.....are you logged in as an Administrator or are you using a limited account?

You can go under Control Panel --> User Accounts, and under your name it should say Computer Administrator. If not, then change your account type here from Limited to CA.
