Manufacturer Support on Educational Software

Had a question about support from manufactuer's who release versions of their software for educational purposes. For example, I can buy premiere pro or photoshop at a sixth of the full price cost but I wanted to know, do I lose out on anything that the full version would have by doing so? Whether it be features, support, or updates? Does this policy apply to most other major manufacturer's as well (Macromedia, Microsoft, etc...)
