MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - The self-proclaimed sovereign citizen, who reportedly settled her family into a foreclosed home in a high-end Memphis neighborhood, is behind bars.

Abka Re Bey, who the affidavit lists as Tabitha Gentry, has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property over $60,000.00, and criminal trespass.

Her bond is set at $2 million, and she is set to face a judge Monday, March 11.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Gentry was driving a white Jaguar when she was taken into custody Friday just before 1 a.m.

Gentry is reportedly living in the $3 million home on Shady Grove Road claiming that the bank cannot own the property and that her indigenous ancestry grants her the deed.

Her 13-year-old daughter was with her at the time of the arrest and was also taken into custody.

Just after 1 a.m., SWAT team members cut the chains on the gate and gained entry to the mansion. Search dogs were also on the property.

Photos of the home's interior depict a lavish 10,000 square foot spread with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a media room, and a pool. The house sits on three acres.

This is not Gentry's first arrest.

She was arrested in October, accused of assaulting two police officers.

The charges were not prosecuted. The addresses listed on her arrest records all lead to places she no longer lives.

A resident on the 3000 block of Cromwell Avenue said she previously moved into a home in that neighborhood, claimed the house as her own, racked up a $4,000 utility bill, and squatted for about 18 months before being evicted.

After seeing far too many articles about squatters ruining abandoned homes, its good to see at least one get some comeuppance.

I would have LOVED to have been there to watch if the Sheriff's dept had used a SWAT team to evict my worthless ex g/f from the house we rented last year.

From another source = http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/squatter-3-million-mansion-arrested-175234007.html , this lazy lowlife criminal claimed

Gentry claimed membership in a Moorish National group

Moorish group =! indigenous in the US. What a moron. Oh, and she has 6 kids (from 11 years to 14 months). Guess who will end up paying for those kids?

More of her "accomplishments" = http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/story/21551744/moorish-squatter-arrested-swat-break-into-mansion

Gentry could also find herself in more trouble after failing to appear in November 2012 to answer to allegations she attempted to run over two Memphis policemen after a traffic stop

Looks like her new residence would be in Prison, for a long time.

A defendant charged with aggravated burglary will be sentenced to hard labor not less than a year and up to 30 years.
Theft of property, whether the value of the property stolen makes it a misdemeanor or a felony, the exact maximum sentence for a simple theft will always depend on the laws of the state where it happened.
Criminal Trespass, This crime is a felony and may result in imprisonment, restitution and probation. The amount of prison time or probation varies, depending on the state and the offender's criminal history.

ohh assault. so go in with 3-4 cops. with tazors ready.

a swat team? fuck that its overkill.

and take chance for an officer to lose their life to someone who has a record and bold enough to squat a $3m house for over a year?

thought general rule of thumb for someone with priors is downhill not model citizen.

I hate squatters a lot, but did they really need to use a SWAT team?

Good practice for swat I imagine. Were they needed? No, not really, however they were given the opportunity to storm a large house + gate...

The moral of this story? If you are going to squat don't do it in a wealthy neighborhood, they get better protection then the the rest.

Give the SWAT guys a break, how often do they get the chance to kick the door on a $3 million home?
