Man's body found in front of TV year after death

A long while back I remember seeing an article (with pics 🙁) of some old fart who slipped while prepping his bath. He was in some sort of apartment complex and had turned the hot water on, and fell in while the water was still running. He drowned. Well the hot water just kept pouring. And pouring. And pouring.

After some weeks people starting complaining of the smell. After entering his apartment there was just a tub full of goo and the water was still running.

Actually, I suspect that the hot water helped to incubate bacteria and whatnot that did the actual liquefaction.

So how did his electricity and cable bill get paid for a year?

I was just about the post the same question.

And I don't think I've ever had a TV that will come back on after a power outage. I find it hard to believe that power went uninterrupted for that long.

What's said is knowing that this man apparently had no one whatsoever in his life. Otherwise, someone would have found him in a year's time.

But I agree about the bills. He had to be renting or making home payments. I find it hard to believe you could go a year without doing either and not have someone enter the home.

Water ran for weeks & no one notices? 😕

Direct draft set up with his bank account?

SS goes in automatically, expenses taken out automatically?

Every older person I have ever known has feared anything being tied to bank accounts.

Yep. Most retirement and SS payments are made direct deposit. Many folks have some or most payments made automatically these days.

IIRC, I believe he was using an electric heater to heat the water and something happened to him and the heater kept the soup warm 😱

Naw, my mom and many of her friends do everything automatically. It saves trips to the bank and post office. Mobility is a big issue with many older people.

Also, SS pushes the hell out of direct deposit and so do most retirement plans.

Nearly all of my stuff is automatic. Direct deposit, automatic billpay, recurring deposits/withdrawls...it almost runs itself now :Q

Older TV's with a hard on-off switch (power goes through switch) would stay on. Newer ones all have a soft switch (where the switch triggers something else to switch the power). Old people tend to have ancient TVs...

Would they then have direct deposit but an archaic TV? Quite a conundrum. 😛
