Hi,

Yet again i am having problems with linux  so here is story.

I put the CD in boot it up set up everything and it gets to the installation bit, so i sit back and wait.

Some times it gets to before the 2nd CD and it crashes (mouse will not move) and sometimes it gets to after the 2nd CD and it crashes.

I have no idea why this is happening so i am hopeing that someone can give an insight into how to fix this annoying problem.

Here are the specs of the PC:

Abit NF7S
AMD 2600+ (at stock)
512Mb RAM DDR 333
ATI 9700 PRO (with dual LCD's)
Logitech Mouse and Keyboard
Antec Sonata (with standard 380W PSU)
DVD -RW
DVD - ROM
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (on SATA)

i think that is about it.

Anyone know how to fix it then?

Did the md5sums check out alright.

If you try to change virtual terminals, does it work? Is there any additional information available there?

Quite often when you do linux installs you might have to add kernel options. For instance 9/10 times i install a different distro I have to add ide=nodma at boot or else there is something with my cdrom that causes it to hang. I also have a logitech keyboard and mouse. Ive ran into a few instances where having them plugged in via USB has caused problems with a install. Try using them on PS/2 instead. Also the 2.6 kernels have some problems with ACPI as well I think. For example, if you want to disable dma and acpi for a install you would type "linux ide=nodma noacpi". I think with most distro you can hit F2 or F3 for a list of possible options. Just play around with it. Thats the way I learned linux. This is just my preference but let me recommend you try fedora core 2. The iso's will be availible next week or you could try a net install now.
