I wanted to install Mandrake Linux v8 off the CDs. However, I plan on changing the NIC to another one in about a week. Question:

Should I wait till I get the new nic before installing the s/w or is it very easy to change it out and put the new one in and w/ drivers autodetecting and such??

I plan no using this box as a server for mail, web, ftp, etc. I know in NT, you bind the protocols to the NIC and it's much easier to do a clean install w/ the right NIC.. so I needed this question answered.. thanks in advance!

I wouldn't worry about it and if you can't get it working, worst case is you reinstall it.

If your a rookie with Linux then I suggest you wait for the new nic and pray Mandrake installs the drivers for it during the OS install.

I am not even a rookie... moreso a newbie! As for the NIC Card, it's a Netgear NIC 10/100. T314 Chipset I believe..
