mandrake linux takes forever to boot up

ever since i started using the internet with it, it just takes centuries... like when detecting my lan cards... it tries each of them like so many times and then assigns them a bogus ip and boots but this process takes at least 3-5 mins... very annoying...

Are all your NIC's configured properly? Sounds like you've got one or more of them looking for a DHCP server that doesn't exist. Check out Mandrake's network configuration tool and make sure they've got the right information. If you've got extra NIC's for some reason, there should probably be an option somewhere not to bring up the interface at boot time.

yeah i do have an extra nic i dont use but im just too lazy to open up my case and remove it...
