I have a Netgear card in my current computer and decided to get a copy of Linux from a friend to learn about it before i put it on my new machine that I -should- be getting stuff for soon. Anyway i get through the installation and everything but when it detects for the network (Im on a LAN) it goes fine and I pick the option to configure the Network Card. It brings up a list where two have 'NE2000' within thier name, thats what i use in windows 'NE2000 or compatable' but neither in the linux setup are accepted and work. I cant seem to just bypass that screen either by picking any of the other options so i am sort of at a confusing spot of what to do or even if my card is compatable.

I had a similar problem when i was installing windows 98 recently (just restoring it because i accidentally had formatted my hd instead of just reinstalling the system) and it wouldnt recognize that there was a card there *at all* untill i took it out, turned off the machine, re did windows all over again and brought it up, shut it down, installed the card, and booted it up. Anyway it worked because it wasnt in the pci slot while windows was being installed. Im thinking then that maybe i should just take the card out, turn off my computer which ends the installation obviously and i would have to start over, and pick an option that this computer does not have any internet and just get the stupid thing loaded up then worry about installing the card and drivers and configuring it once i am actually within the Linux OS.

Sorry about the long post and maybe not really an apparent question but what else is there to do? The card is a Netgear EA 201.:confused::frown:
