Mandrake install screw up.

Ok, I'm running 98se/2k and now mandrake on my sys. I wanted to use the 2k boot loader so I was intending to use the how to that I found on this board. That's all good. Though first off, Linux installed over my mbr during setup and overwrote the 2k boot loader with GRUB, which I find far more irritating than the 2k loader. How can I restore the 2k boot loader? Second, some how the install of mandrake got messed up. It goes through boot up and then goes to the console with the following message:

kdm: error in loading shared libraries: libpng.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

This message must have scrolled 7 or 8 times and then I get:

INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast, disabled for 5 minutes.

Anyone know how I can fix that as well as the boot loader? Reformat/install?
