this is the notebook KDS ThinNote

I have the 3 Mandrake CDs ready to go. I have partition magic so i can create a Linux partition but i'm wondering should i even try to install since this notebook hasn't been tested (certain to work with Mandrake).

And do yall have any tips for this nub?

:)

Yah chances are most if not all features are going to work aslong as you get your kernel compiled correctly and any modules you need, so good luck and welcome to linux.

do you have information that you want to save, or are you going to wipe out the entire hdd? If the latter applies, then just install. I have probably installed different distros of linux 40 - 50 times, and I learn something new each time. welcome to linux too.

I have installed mandrake 8, 9, and 9.1 on a pIII 450 sony laptop Everything works except the fake mouse thing ... I imagine i could get it working, but usually i plug a usb laser mouse into it ... so i don't need it anyhow... otherwise everything runs perfectly on it.

Best of luck to you.
