Mandrake 9 setup can't find CDROM

Trying to install Mandrake 9. I boot off the CD and the installation begins looking for devices, but then I get an error saying it can't find a CDROM device. It then prompts me to choose a SCSI 'driver'.

Since it booted and began the setup, I assume it has found my CDROM okay, so why can't it find it now?

Why is it prompting for SCSI drivers? Is it because I have a RAID setup? Please help!

Help! :(

This is a common problem with Mandrake 9 - something about their version of supermount, from what I understand. This was the first to come up in Google, but there are probably other solutions around as well.

As for how this is possible, understand that bootable CD's work by fooling the BIOS into thinking they're a floppy. Once the BIOS hands over the boot process to an OS, the OS has no idea whether it booted from a floppy or CD.

edit: fixed link

Thanks for the link. The problem is, I cannot even install Linux because it can't read the CD. Most of the links I've found on Google relate to not being able to read the CD once Mandrake has already been installed. Any other ideas anyone?
