I have Mandrake 8.0 running OK and I bought it in the box it was the power pack version with about 6 CDs, I want to know how I can upgrade to the 8.1 Beta, without just starting over and doing a complete install.

You *might* be able to upgrade to the latest RPMs with MandrakeUpdate (should be an icon already on your desktop). Unfortunately, there's no clear way to tell which ones are at least up to 8.1 beta 1 level.

You can also upgrade if you download the full ISOs and burn them to CDs. When you boot the CD, it will give you the option to install or upgrade.

If you let the installer partition the drives for you, you probably have a seperate /home partition. That way, you can safely let MDK8.1 'upgrade' your existing installation, since most settings are stored in subdirectories of your /home dir.

Moreover, as SUOrangeman pointed out, you can simply fetch the updated packes from cooker manually or use the included upgrade program.
