Argh. First thing I downloaded with my new cable modem was Mandrake 7.2 to supplant 7.1. Burned it, and nothing. I put it back in the CD-RW, no dice. It doesn't recognize it. Put it in my Creative 5x DVD drive, no dice.

Reboot computer, it won't boot off of either drive. (DVD is IDE bootable, CD-RW is SCSI and it'll automatically pick up on bootable CDs.)

Since it's an ISO, I go the easy route and use Adaptec Easy CD to burn it. How do you burn an ISO in Nero? I do a disc info in Nero and it sees that there is an image there, and that it is bootable, but nothing else will recognize it. I've run the md5sum on it and it comes up perfect, so the image is fine.

Ideas?

The Mandrake Linux 7.2 ISO is a bootable CD. I burned it using Nero with no problems. Nero doesn't recognize ISOs as a valid image, select "all files" and then select the ISO. You can then burn it.

Did you burn the right CD? There are 2, I don't think the extensions CD is bootable.

May also need to check the MD5 sum of your file to make sure no corruption took place during the download (hey, it happens some times).

I checked the md5 sum, and it was correct on both files. I was, in fact, using the install image and not the extension CD, I made sure of that.

Maybe it was Easy CD... I'll try it with Nero, now that I know how to do it.

Just make a boot floppy to boot from the cd... If you knkow how to do it sorry for my explanation, but here it goes:
In windows browse the first installation cd and go to the dosutils and run rawritewin.exe. It asks you which image fiole to copy, select from the directory images cdrom.img. Then just start your computer using that floppy with your cd in the drive. It should start the installation automatically.
Good luck!
