Mandrake 7.2 --Update
Posted Saturday, October 28, 2000 - 12:19 PM by: Sensei | Submit Your News
Veloct writes, "Mandrake Linux 7.2 with KDE2 included plus many more additions is out on the main ftp and a few mirrors. It was released earlier this morning. It will ship from Cheapbytes by midweek and should be in retails stores mid-November."

Updated: It looks as if the version of Mandrake as not been officially announced and LNO sorta jumped the gun by posting this. With that said, enjoy 7.2 :). -Sensei

thanks to 1pcwarren for direct linkage:

Anyone get it up and running. Been trying to install it for two days now. Always get and error when it is trying to install bash, and I get ldconfig errors and also some rpm errors too. Hope it's just a bad burn. From the Mandrake website, it looks a lot better than redhat 7. Wish Mandrake was as easy to install as Redhat.

I found the fastest mirror to get 7.2. Go to Wal-Mart. :)

No joke, my local store just got it in today. Unless Linux Mandrake 7.2 means something else in another language.... :) $24.95 + tax.

7.2 at WalMart? R U SURE? It just went GOLD over the weekend. I find it VERY hard to believe that CDs have been pressed and found their way to WalMart.

Did they come directly from Mandrake with docs?

Err, yes, I'm quite sure. I'll even go in and take a picture of it with my cheesy digital camera just to prove my point. :p

Oh, still don't believe me? Check out Slashdot, they've got a link proving me right. :)

DO NOT BUY THE WAL_MART BOX !!!

the 7.2 version in the box is actually a BETA !!

This from Slashdot

I've installed it, and have had a lot of problems ... cd-writer not working, ethernet not working correctly, installation would stall unless I switched console every ~5 minutes and do a ls -l ....

if you ask me, it wasn't ready for prime time quite yet !

Good work, coutch. I knew something had to be up.

Maybe a good opportunity to try Mandrake's software update tool. :) I have the 7.2 release and several "developmental" updates are showing up.
