Mandrake 7.2 cannot find modem

Every time I install and try to connect to the internet it cannot find my modem.
I have a Creative Modem Blaster. This is my first experience with Linux and I
really like it.

its got to go in as dev.1 /dev01 or some such, not as modem. That makes sense dosent it.At slashdot.org they burn people at the stake for those type questions. Not very 1334 and all that.

I had a Modem Blaster, internal PCI, and it is a winmodem. If you have a similar modem, it will not work in linux because it requires special drivers which nobody has bothered to release yet 🙁.

Any other details about your modem that would show whether or not it's a winmodem?

What jartit said is basically the bottom line. Winmodems have gotten extremely popular because of their low cost for windows users, though they need special software to work. The big companies haven't had the need to put out drivers for linux yet.
