I want my computer to run Linux with KDE, is there a walkthough for ppl like me anywhere?

I have no experience in installing linux whatsoever but I am familiar with basic unix, kde, stc but never actually installed any of it.

Right now I have a computer running Win2k/98SE and a partition waiting for Linux

Thanks

Here is a link to the Mandrake install guide. But i'd imagine if you've used linux, you'll probubly also have the right knowledge to answer most questions. When I installed Redhat 5.1 a while back that was fairly easy.. i'd imagine Mandrake practically does it all for you.

The only bit of advice I can give from my own experiance is to remember to make partitions for each of your key dirs (/usr, /bin, etc...)... Because if you have it all on one and it buggers up... it's an arse to fix..

mandrake 7.2 is a super-easy install. one thing about mandrake 7.2 and windows 2000 though, is that mandrake has this install option called "recommended" or some such thing. do not use this if you have windows 2000 installed as it will try to put gump or lilo into your master boot record, thereby making your windows 2000 partition unaccessible. pick one of the others and put the boot manager in /boot.
