I think it would be a good idea to make enabling the rating thing mandatory. Would make it harder for the trolls to hide their trollness.

User ratings are completely worthless for trading. The only thing it partially reflects at least in OT is the type of poster that person is. Red Dawn is quite eccentric and based solely off his posts in OT, might be rated rather low, but from the rave reviews I remember people writing about him in FS/FT, he's one of the finest traders on AT.
 
I just enabled it for kicks, and some jackass gave me a one rating, so no, I don't believe it should be mandatory (btw, I have it disabled again).
 
I think it's a wasted feature. Some of the best members on the board have low ratings for no apparent reason. With an established rating system for FS/FT in the form of heatware, I don't see the need for a rating system on the forum itself.

i remember my first experience with him. i inquired about a tv tuner, had a few questions, and then decided not to buy it. he responded with "thanks for wasting my time, dumbass" or something to that effect.

lol. He's a pretty damn good trader all in all. I can't say that I haven't ever said the same thing to someone. In my case, it was more than deserved though.
 
Its a useless feature. It means nothing since its abused both ways "Everybody gets a 10 !!" and the other way where people, like me, give everyone 1's.

Yeah it does, especially when the guy could have gone to the Website and gleened all the info he needed. In fact I remember giving him the info he requested directly from reading the site myself.😉

I try to be more balanced in my ratings. The first person gets a 10 the second one gets a 5 and the third gets a 1. Thats all the rating I do each day, unless somebody annoys me, in which case I give them a 1.... I don't think that they should be made mandatory, but even if they were what good would they accomplish. Who here seriously rates ATers?
 
I bought a mainboard from Red Dawn, and I can tell you he is a bitter old man who gets his jollies from ragging on the n00b's here. That is the whole reason I bought it from him, because he is a bitter old man. I was disapointed when he was nothing but profesional with my inquiries 🙁 😛

As for the ratings, they are not worth anything really. I have had a few peeps comment on my high post count (lifer status) and say that if I am a lifer I must be from On High. No, I just nef a lot.
