I remember once when I worked at a Burger King they wanted me to work over 40 hours but to clock out and they would add it to my next weeks hours. I told them if they wanted me to work overtime they would have to pay me overtime. They got mad and I laughed and then I went home. That doesn't really have anything to do with your situation, but I thought I would share.
