Sir Alex Ferguson said after the match that things like this is why instant replay is needed.

the linesman disallowed it because he was furiously running back to try to see the goal. he didn't have as good a view from down on the pitch as we have on video replays and the higher angle. Still though, it's an inexcusable disallowed goal.
