Manchester, Toledo, Smithfield...?

I've narrowed it down to these processors:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 1GHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX

Intel Pentium D 930 Presler 800MHz FSB LGA 775 Dual Core Processor Model BX80553930

Intel Pentium D 830 Smithfield 800MHz FSB LGA 775 Dual Core, EM64T Processor Model BX80551PG3000FN

Are those the best cores out of the two companies or something else better? Looking to pay approximately $350 or so for a processor.

Suggestions please?

Read a review...The answer is obvious...The 3800+ winsmultimedia by 10%, CAD by 20+%, photoshop +20%...games about the same

Newegg

P D 930 (retail) = 330
P D 830 (retail) = 267 (but you'll need to spend 30+ on a decent heatsink to keep it cool, even ast stock)

X2 3800+ (retail) = 296

The 930 or 3800+ X2 are the only choices, the 830 is a flamethrower, and mine was throttling on the stock heatsink at stock speeds. The 9xx series does run cooler than the 8xx series, but the X2's run even cooler. Are you planning to do any overclocking? Either way I recomend the X2 3800+, you would need a $200 motherboard to get a good OC out of the presler, and at stock speeds, the 3800+ X2 will outperform it basicly in everything.

there will be a Intel 925 at 3.0ghz 800mhz fsb. Supposedly well under $200 to take over 805 once the Smithfields are gone. I am not sure when it will arrive although considering the low price it may be well into the future. At the moment, AMD's X2 3800+ Manchester and Opteron 165 are the best choice. Late Manchesters are clocking pretty high and runs pretty cool

Ok, I agree with everyone that 930 or 3800 are my best choices and thank you for your help.

But now I'm interested in what the last poster said regarding the Opteron. Seems like it's the same as the Manchester 3800 just has more cache. This true or what other differences are there. To compare one with the same speed of 2.0ghz i'm looking at:

$296 for the Manchester

$394 for AMD Opteron 170 Denmark 1GHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model OSA170DAA6CD

What is the benefit of chosing this Opteron over the Manchester? Also if chosing an Opteron, is the Denmark core the way to go?

Thank you for everyone's help. It's much appreciated.

**Edit: P.S. i'm not planning on doing any overclocking

If time isn't much of an issue, wait and get Conroe lolz 😛
