managing your bank transactions

I hate that wamu.com (now Chase) doesn't allow you to make your own comments next to each transaction. I've written to their 'feedback' link a couple times but fat chance if they'll actually do anything about it. Does any bank's online service allow this? I can't remember what is for what since most activity is done online or I simply transfer a certain amt somewhere for some reason. And no - I'm not going to do it by hand in a checkbook after I dot-com something. Now that I think about it, maybe mint.com allows commenting after it pulls all transactions but that's obviously not ideal... it takes too long to pull from everything and too many clicks to get into a specific transaction. It's great for seeing trends but not to manage transactions day-to-day.

I just keep track of checking account stuff in my checkbook's register.

You can always make an excel spreadsheet - then when you get your bank statement, compare it with what you had to make sure there are no errors.

Just curious, what comments would you like to make?

My wife and I have separate accounts, then we have a joint account that bills and other expeditures get paid with, etc. We frequently throw in and take out of the joint account. I threw in $50 for something and now I can't remember wtf for. She hasn't taken it out (normally I tell her to via email so we have a record) so it probably wasn't for her. Things like this...

I need to manage it since right now I'm doing semi-monthly billing work but we have a surplus (above the just-in-case buffer) in joint that seems like I prepped it for something... and I don't know why. It matters just in case something hasn't been cashed yet from joint...

A simple comment box would suffice. I do this web stuff for a living so I know how easy it would be.
