Managing contacts on Car

Trying to fix the contacts list for my mothers car. She has a '12 camry and a galaxy 3. managed to port the entire address book over but she actually only wants about 10 of the numbers in the car and wants the rest out so it's easier to find the wanted ones. I was looking through the toyota manuals and could see examples that had an on screen delete contact button, but it wasn't showing in the car for me. Is there some setting I must enable on the phone first or ???
