How did the dead guy know that it was HIS thrown-away lottery ticket that was the winner? Did he memorize the numbers or something? Or did he know it was a winning ticket and STILL throw it away?

What I don't get are the 2 rulings.

That's what makes the judicial system so scary.

In the first ruling, the claim was rejected. THEN Donovan dies & his kids appeal the ruling & now you get $7K annualy for 20years. (That'll probalby become more trouble than it's worth after taxes considering the *plural* of "KIDS" but whatever....... let 'em fight over it!!

I dunno how I'd rule if I were a judge in that case. Even if Donovan had proof he bought every ticket in the place..........if it's found in a trash can, it sounds to me like it was simply a $1 million mistake of not keepin' the stupid thing in his damn posession well enough, no???

reading comprehension mb?

ruling number 1 by the LOTTERY COMMISSION (NOT JUDICIAL SYSTEM).

there never WAS a second ruling, it was a SETTLEMENT? again, HTF do you fault the judicial system for a SETTLEMENT?

exactly

the judicial branch isn't perfect, but the really big problems are with the citizenry

citizenship is HARD. a citizen of a democratic state must take it upon themselves to rule. unfortunately, most people these days want the freedom to choose the politician but they don't want to be held accountable.

Kevin Donovan, 49, who said he had bought every "Hold 'em Poker" ticket in the store earlier in the day

Seems odd that on that day he bought every ticket the store had and he got a 1,000,000 winner. Sounds like someone knew that ticket was in that store.
