it's a bit sad that I've been living in SoCal for 5 years and still having trouble to entertain friends who came to visit me in LA.

other than Hollywood Kodak theater, Santa Monica 3rd St Prominade, Old Town Pasadena, Japan Town, DisneyLand, Sunset strip, Long Beach's Pine Ave, and little bits of OC. where else can i bring my friends to check out? (places where we could wine and dine)
the OC area I am largely unfamiliar with and would like to explore most.

There are nice places in OC: Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove State Park, Newport Beach is very nice for walking around. You didn't mention Mulholland Drive, but I'm sure you've taken them there :)

Irvine, Newport Beach and the cities further south have many nice places to eat out.

If your guests are into amusement parks, try Knott's Berry Farm (but on a school day!), they have some rides I haven't seen anywhere else, and of course the Supreme Scream :) Montezuma's Revenge is also a thrill.

yeah, i've been there before, a very nice place indeed, but that's a bit on the artsy side. we prefer beer-and-hooters type scenaries.

i hate it when people say it's in Pasadena or South Pasadena . . . it's ENTIRELY in San Marino!

just one of those things that pisses me off

There's this really good Indian restaurant in Hollywood named "Tantra"

Kinda like an Indian Fusion sort of restaurant

It's not really in a popular place, but the wait is THREE HOURS on a Friday or Sunday :Q

The Getty Museum

They have a VERY NICE restaurant on the grounds of the museum. We took a stretch suburban there after my cousin graduated from USC a few years back.
